| The Universitat de Barcelona has around 60.000 students and 5.700 staff. There are several campus placed in different parts of the city. The oldest building of the University, dated 1860, was constructed just at the beginning of the modern urbanization plan for the town, projected by the architect Ildefons Cerdà.
