With the Leica CM1850 attention has been paid to:
User safety - Easy disinfection of the splashwater-proof microtome and an enclosed drainage system that prevents the release of bacteria and germs into the air greatly reduce the risks to the operator when sectioning fresh and potentially infectious tissue specimens.
Low operating costs and increased efficiency - New insulation technology has resulted in power savings of approx. 10 % compared to conventional heat insulation systems. This new feature enhances the durability of the refrigerating system and maintains stable cryochamber temperatures even when operating the instrument under unfavorable environmental conditions.
The quick specimen freezing system consists of an actively cooled freezing shelf allowing rapid specimen freezing down to -60 °C with a Peltier cooling unit. The efficient 8-degree (X/Y) specimen orientation guarantees fast and precise sectioning.
The microtome can be taken from the cryochamber for cleaning and disinfection. The removable and heated sliding glass lid can be removed for easy access to the cryochamber.
On request the CM1850 can also be supplied with specimen retraction.
