Factory logistics were optimized 1 | 2

August 2001

Since production began, all test runs of the new laboratory equipment are done with state-of-the-art measurement equipment that can be used 24 hours a day. To keep assembly time to a minimum, a special team was formed that is responsible not only for the pre-assembly of component groups, but also for their quality control. One of the problems was the procurement of material from all over the world, which did not always meet Leica’s quality requirements at first. Besides this, there was a logistic problem due to the distance between the field warehouse in Frankfurt accommodating 70% of inventories and the production site in Nussloch. Meanwhile, Leica’s forwarding agents ensure a smooth and permanent flow of materials.
