Leica IMS500 Interactive Microscopy System

Teacher Friendly – Student Interactive

Heerbrugg, Switzerland. Modern microscopy laboratories for university students require an attractive, interactive environment to capture and maintain students’ attention and make science meaningful. The Leica IMS500 Interactive Microscope System is designed to make real-time interaction with microscopic images easy for the teacher and highly motivating for students.

Starting with simple keypad control, the Leica IMS500 enables the teacher to select and share students’ microscope images with the class in real-time, which helps engage each student into the laboratory session. The images have the high quality that is expected from Leica Microsystems’ microscopes and cameras. The teacher has complete control over the specific image to be shared and which students receive a particular image for study and discussion.

The teacher has the flexibility to take control of the students’ computers, and lock each keyboard and mouse to control the laboratory workflow, for example. This unique accessibility also allows the teacher to interact with an individual student and share images for one-on-one instruction.

The ability to select a student’s image for sharing with others on their local screens, via a projector or on a large flat screen, uniquely relates a student’s work to the course as the subject unfolds. The flexible hardware platform of the Leica IMS500 provides the freedom to use any type of computer, regardless of the operating system or upgrades. The Leica IMS500 can also operate independently of a computer if image acquisition and the highest resolution are not required for the coursework at hand.
