The illumination optics in the new Leica DMR HCS microscope system

The incident light illumination optics in the new Leica DMR HC microscope have been thoroughly innovated to match technique-specific requirements, creating the basis for a harmonious interaction of illuminating and imaging optics. This practical orientation has resulted in an extremely versatile illumination system. Here are the main advantages of the HCS system:
- Universal microscope with photometric properties of a special microscope, for fluorescence, industrial, material testing and polarisation applications.
- Illumination modules allow quick adaptation of illumination optics to different light sources.
- Distinct increase in fluorescence intensity factor 1.8x in the visual range, up to factor 3.5x in the UV range.
- Two switching positions in fluorescence: maximum intensity maximum homogeneity.
- Distinct improvement in homogeneity for incident light brightfield.
- Special setting with particularly great homogeneity for video applications in incident light brightfield
- Improved Leica-BD darkfield
