AgTreat™ AntiMicrobial Treatment

The spread of disease from surfaces is of great concern, especially in educational environments. Leica Microsystems has integrated an additive so that all microscope touchpoints of the Leica DM500, Leica DM750 and Leica DM750 P are treated to inhibit the growth of bacteria. This helps to prevent the spread
of disease via the microscope surfaces and leads to a healthier laboratory environment.

Activity spectrum

1. Bacteria/Yeasts

Bacteria multiply practically everywhere at an enormously rapid rate and impair primarily hygiene. Within a very short time, offensive odours arise.

2. Fungi

Mold fungi do lasting damage to polymers by causing typical stains and destroying the material.

Nano-Flash-Technology – How does it work?

1. Microbes settle onto the protected surface.
2. The treatment transmits positive nano-charges to the microbes upon contact. The intensity of the nano-discharges is extremely weak and cannot be felt. It has an effect only on microbes.
3. The nano-discharges inhibit metabolic processes of the microbe’s cell.
4. The microbes are inactivated and are no longer able to develop or multiply. After having passed their lifecycle they disappear.
