How many lines can I print on a cassette or on a slide?

Many lines can be printed, however we recommend to print 1 or 2 lines on cassettes and 4 to 5 lines on slides.

Are the hood and the control panel resistant to solvents?

We don’t recommend using solvents for cleaning the outer surfaces. Use a mild household detergent to clean the control panel and outer surface.

Are the unload stations for slides and cassettes different?

Yes. They look very similar but the trays and the object pushing mechanism are different. The unload station for slides cannot be used with cassettes. The unload station for cassettes cannot be used with slides.

Can I print upside down?

Yes. The print orientation is controlled by the printer driver.

Do the IP C and IP S printer release dangerous fumes?

The IP printers were environmentally tested by a German certified body for environmental tests. According to this report, the concentration of exhaust fumes is very low and the printers can be continuously used without any concern.

 

Can I print bar codes?

Yes. We recommend 2D Data Matrix Barcodes, they are very reliable, you can encode up to 25 characters and they are space-saving.

Can I refill the ink cartridge using commercially available jet printer ink?

No. The ink used by the IP C and IP S is a special resistant ink and has to be ordered from an authorized representative of Leica Microsystems.

What kind of software can I use to operate the printer?

You can use Windows-based software. We recommend NICE LABEL SUITE.

Can I print on the side of a cassette?

No. You can only print on the angled front part of the cassette.

Can I print on cassettes with different front angles?

Yes. Our printer supports both 35° and 45° front angles.

Can I insert a single slide or cassette without using the magazines?

Yes. Slides or cassettes can be inserted using the single feed capability of the printer. The printer driver supports this function and the application software must support it as well.
