Automated Upright Microscope System for Life Science Research Leica DM4000 B

The Leica DM4000 B features Intelligent Automation for intuitive operation and reproducible results.

Compatible with a variety of user-friendly software packages and camera systems, the Leica DM4000 B is the ideal microscope for life science research and clinical applications. It's Intelligent Automation features a coded 6x or 7x nosepiece, manual z-focus, and fully automated transmitted- and fluorescence axis. All settings are saved and displayed to provide reproducible results.

The Contrast Manager supports the transmitted light (brightfield, darkfield, phase contrast and polarization contrast) and fluorescence contrast methods. It allows the user to switch from one contrast method to another with one push of a button. Based on the selected objective, all necessary adjustments are automatically done.

The large, logically arranged display of the Leica DM4000 B shows all microscope settings at a glance – a convenience unmatched in this microscope class.

Automated transmitted light axis

Features a fully automated transmitted light axis for brightfield, darkfield, phase, and polarization contrast. Automatic Koehler light management ensures the best image quality and reproducible results.

The microscope detects the selected objective and the contrast method, and then automatically sets the optimal values for aperture, field diaphragm, and light intensity. The user can adjust these values at any time and the modified values are automatically stored.

The Leica‘s patented Constant Color Intensity Control (CCIC) maintains constant color temperature when changing the light intensity- always the same color of the image and the white balance that is normally required for digital camera use is now a thing of a past.

Automated fluorescence axis

Features a fully automated fluorescence axis with apochromatically-corrected optical path  for high contrast, brilliant images at a touch of a button:

  • motorized 5-position filter cube turret, motorized field diaphragm and fast motorized shutter
  • patented Fluorescence Intensity Management (Leica FIM)

Leica’s unique Zero Pixel Shift filter cube technology ensures perfect image alignment of multiple fluorescence proteins.

 

Fluorescence Intensity Manager

Leica Microsystems’ unique patented Fluorescence Intensity Manager (FIM) provides fast, accurate, and reproducible adjustment of the fluorescence illumination to effectively protect the specimen from photo bleaching. FIM remembers the setting for each filter cube - for fast and absolutely reproducible results.
