Bernd Sägmüller, Dr.
Bernd Sägmüller was born 1969 in Nuremberg, Germany. After his diploma in Chemistry he worked on Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering on Thioles and Drugs on Silver Halide Surfaces in the Department for Physical Chemistry, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, chaired by Prof. Dr. Sigfried Schneider. He was promoted Dr. rer. nat. in 2002. Working as a product manager at P.A.L.M., later Carl Zeiss Micro-Imaging, he moved on heading confocal product management at Leica Microsystems, Mannheim in 2007. Since 2010 he manages the business segment confocal imaging at Leica Microsystems. He is an electronics enthusiast building (and listening to) tube amplifiers, technical models with Fischertechnik (the old kits) with his two sons and still does landscape and architecture photography using a 4x5” Linhof Technikardan.
