Leica ASD18 I

3View displays for high resolution and full brightness display

Overview

Leica Microsystems ASD 3-D Display System enables the user to see stereoscopic images in real time on a computer screen. You'll experience the specimen with perspective, depth and color reproduction just like looking thru the eyepieces of a stereomicroscope. The ASD system is a fatigue free observation solution for training of microscopes techniques or remote inspection.

The principle of the 3-D monitor is based on providing two different views to each eye by use of a movable prism mask in front of a TFT (Thin Film Transistor) panel. Brightness is not absorbed by this method of stereo visualization and no shutter, glasses, or other accessories are needed to get a true 3-D impression. This special optical characteristic provides brilliant visualization with full luminance to the viewer. To see the 3-D effect the eyes of a users must be in a suitable region in front of the 3-D monitor. The eyes are tracked by a head-tracking system that adjusts the prism mask if the user moves.
