Wetzlar, Germany. Leica Microsystems is pleased to announce that the latest addition to the OCULUS portfolio, the Pentacam® AXL anterior segment analyzer, is now fully compatible with the IOLcompass Pro guidance system for markerless toric IOL alignment and the Proveo 8 microscope available from Leica Microsystems. With this suite of products, ophthalmic surgeons have a comprehensive workflow solution that ensures precision data at every step of cataract surgery from pre-operative diagnostics to IOL positioning.
Supporting patient outcomes in cataract surgery
“At Leica Microsystems our driving purpose is supporting surgeons to achieve optimal patient outcomes” says Maxim Mamin, VP Medical Division. “By collaborating with like-minded partners such as OCULUS we are able to offer surgeons complete imaging and workflow solutions that help them achieve the most precise results for their patients”.
Ensuring seamless connectivity for precision data
Leica Microsystems and OCULUS have worked closely to ensure seamless data connectivity and alignment between their systems. This avoids manual steps and ensures the precision diagnostic data from the OCULUS Pentacam AXL can be directly used by the IOLcompass Pro guidance system to develop a tailored surgical plan. IOLcompass Pro then automatically registers templates to patterns of the limbus and scleral blood vessel structures for optimal alignment. Sophisticated tracking algorithms and dynamic planning optimization further support the surgeon to achieve fast and precise IOL placement, for minimal residual astigmatism.
Giving surgeons the choice
IOLcompass Pro integrated into the Proveo 8 ophthalmic microscope, is now compatible with many of the leading topography systems available on the market, providing ophthalmologists with the flexibility to select their preferred device.
Providing first-hand experience at APAO
