The Leica M844 F40 ophthalmic surgical microscope helps to improve visibility and working conditions for the surgical team during the eye surgery, while protecting the eyes of both surgeon and patient: Combined with the Leica M844 APO OptiChrome optics and direct halogen illumination, the system offers extraordinary clarity, contrast, and sharp, true anatomical color images at safer low-light levels.

Non-Contact Real-Time Imaging of Internal Tissue Microstructures

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging technology similar to ultrasound, that supports ophthalmologists, ophthalmic surgeons, and vision science researchers in the diagnosis process for eye disease. With the acquisition of Bioptigen in 2015, Leica Microsystems now offers OCT imaging systems for clinical ophthalmology and pre-clinical research applications.

The Bioptigen Envisu C2300 system for ophthalmic coherence tomography (OCT) utilize optical interferometry, similar to holography, to produce images of internal tissue microstructures. This non-invasive technique uses low-power, near-infrared light to create cross-sectional views of the target structure. This provides customers with non-contact real-time imaging for enhanced visualization, publishing, examination, and diagnosis.
