EMBL Advanced Course – Intensive Super-Resolution Microscopy Course for Localization Microscopy and STED

The closing date for applications is 23rd April 2015.

The course is designed for PhD students, postdocs and scientists who are well-versed in common life science microscopy techniques and would like to use super-resolution in their projects. The focus will be on hands-on learning of the methods of localization microscopy (e.g. dSTORM/GSDIM) and STED. Course participants will be able to work with two Leica SR GSD 3D and two Leica TCS SP8 STED 3X microscopes as well as other instruments.

The organizers of the course, Marko Lampe and Rainer Pepperkok, EMBL, and Jan Schröder, Leica Microsystems, will be joined by a number of experienced trainers and scientists – including Christian Eggeling, University of Oxford, UK, Jan Ellenberg, EMBL, Mike Heilemann, University of Frankfurt and Melike Lakadamyali, ICFO, Spain – to teach the participants the theory and practical skills needed to perform super-resolution microscopy. The following topics will be covered during the six days of the course:

  • Multi-color 3D STED Microscopy
  • Multi-color 3D Localization Microscopy
  • Live Cell Imaging
  • Data Analysis for Localization Microscopy
  • Deconvolution for STED Images

The number of participants is limited to 20.
