New Leica Microsystems Reference Site is first of its kind in Israel

Wetzlar, Germany. Leica Microsystems are pleased to announce a new collaboration with the Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel. The new agreement aims to promote and establish Bar-Ilan as a new reference site for Leica products and workflows. As part of the Mina and Everard Goodman Life Sciences Faculty Light Microscope Imaging Center, the Leica reference site is the first of its kind for microscopy in Israel.

The collaboration establishes state-of-the-art microscopy at the faculty, including several confocal microscopes. Amongst them is a Leica TCS SP8 STED 3X super-resolution system, enabling researchers to see beyond the limits of conventional microscopy techniques. This will open the door to scientific partnerships with international investigators through the Leica Microsystems reference site network.

New products, such as the Leica DMi8 S system for advanced live cell imaging, will also be showcased in this world-class microscopy center. A laser microdissection instrument is also available in the imaging center, providing state-of-the-art sample preparation for the start of the microscopy workflow.

Young and dynamic researchers take the opportunity to use the Leica products for their diverse research. Their valuable feedback for future product development will benefit the wider scientific community.

"Bar-Ilan University is very excited about the signing of this agreement, which cements several years of close and fruitful collaboration. It will further promote the ground-breaking research carried out by our faculty in all disciplines of biology and medicine. We strongly believe that this is a unique opportunity to further advance and develop research related to science, technology and medicine”, said Professor Shulamit Michaeli, Vice President for Research. “These topics are at the forefront of the Bar-Ilan University mission."

Vanessa Lurquin, Director of EMEA Sales Core Facilities states: "We are delighted to have this agreement in place. Bar-Ilan and Leica Microsystems share common ground in striving for excellence in research and product innovations. This partnership will foster the development of both parties and elevate both to the next level of success.”
