The motorized correction collar of the Leica motCORR™ objectives simplifies the workflow by quickly adjusting the objective lenses to varying coverglass thickness, changes in temperature, and specimen inhomogeneities.
The optical performance of high numerical aperture water immersion objectives is highly sensitive to refractive index mismatches caused by such variations. Precise adjustment of the correction collar ensures that optimal resolution, signal intensity and penetration depth is restored.
Leica motCORR™ objectives provide superior color correction and field flatness based on Leica’s Plan Apochromatic (PL APO) optics for the best imaging results.
Superior Optics for High-resolution in 3D
Confocal laser scanning microscopy couples high resolution imaging in xy with he ability to resolve objects in the third (z) dimension. This performance is optimal when the refractive indices of the sample and the intervening media match. Mismatches in the refractive indices cause deterioration of the point-spread function, geometric distortion, and spherical and chromatic aberrations.
Precise adjustment of the objective correction collar moves the central lens group of the objective to restore optimal image resolution and brightness.
Precise Correction for Thousands of Turns
Manual adjustment of the correction collar requires time and experience, and is challenging when access to the objective is obstructed by additional equipment. The Leica motCORR™ simplifies adjustment of the correction collar and reduces the training effort.
The correction collar of the Leica motCORR™ objective is driven by a precise, robust motor. It is designed to provide the most reliable adjustment of the lenses and adapts for coverglass thickness from 0.14 to 0.18 mm.
Software-controlled Correction simplifies Workflow
The Leica motCORR™ is easily remote-controlled by the control panel and by LAS AF microscope software. This ensures that the specimen remains undisturbed during movement of the correction collar.
Positioning the correction collar is fast and reduces the time spent on experiment setup. Optical correction adjustments with the Leica motCORR™ are performed quickly and easily with the SuperZ galvo stage, which allows acquisition of live xz-scans on the Leica TCS SP8. Store the motCORR™ position and conveniently recall it for later use.
The Perfect Match for Your Application
Precise adjustment of the correction collar is essential for optimal resolution, signal intensity and penetration depth in many confocal applications.
The motCORR™ objectives are prepared for use with the Leica Water Immersion Micro Dispenser, which provides automatic water supply during experiments. They are compatible with the adaptive focus control (AFC) for best focus stability.
