Katrin Willig , Dr.
Katrin studied physics in Würzburg before joining the group of Stefan W. Hell at the MPI for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen in 2002 for her PhD thesis. Since then, she has been working with STED microscopy focusing on live-cell STED microscopy by using fluorescent proteins and advancing the technique to become in vivo compatible. In collaboration, Katrin contributed to many of the first studies applying STED microscopy to biology. Recently she started her own junior research group at the CNMPB, a Cluster of Excellence and DFG Research Center.
