Research Experience

2014/03 to date

PhD student
As PhD student under the NIH-KI graduate program in Neuroscience, my project my project is held between the two institutes. My long-term interest is to understand the structural changes involved during exocytosis and endocytosis. In detail, I plan to study three critical steps of exo-endocytosis: vesicle merging with the plasma membrane, structural changes during bulk endocytosis, and the fusion pore structure.
Electron microscopy, electron tomography and super-resolution microscopy are the techniques currently used for the study. In Bethesda, USA, under the supervision of Dr. Ling-Gang Wu, I will continue the project, using correlative light electron microscopy (CLEM).

Research Assistant
University of Copenhagen
Intern for the Department of Biology at University of Copenhagen under the supervision of Ivana Novak. I worked on the project “Expression of Ion channel/Transporters in pancreatic ducts”, with the main aim to demonstrate a possible involvement of H+-K+ ATPases in the Cystic Fibrosis disorder. I’ve performed traditional and modern cloning strategies, cell culture techniques, immune-histochemistry and bio-imaging techniques.
