Carsten Forthmann, PhD

Carsten Forthmann studied Physics at the LMU Munich and graduated in 2008. During his Diploma and PhD thesis he worked in the field of super-resolution fluorescence microscopy and participated on the development on DNA origami based nanoscopic resolution rulers. After finishing his thesis in 2013 he worked as a scientist at the PTB Braunschweig for one year. In 2014 he founded a company (GATTAquant GmbH) which commercializes DNA origami based standards for any type of fluorescence microscope but also for TEM and AFM.

  • From 2003–2008: Studies Physics, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich
  • From 2009–2013: PhD thesis at the LMU Munich and the Technische Universität Braunschweig (Prof. Dr. Philip Tinnefeld): "Development and application of super-resolution fluorescence microscopy".
  • From 2013–2014: Scientist in the department "Imaging and Wave Optics" at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunschweig.
  • From 2014: Member of GATTAquant GmbH, Braunschweig. GATTAquant developes and offers fluorescent standards based on the DNA Origami technique.
