Joan Vilana is a Scientific Collaborator at the SPM Lab of the Science & Technology Centers of the University of Barcelona and Pre-doctoral Researcher of the Physicochemical Department and Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of Barcelona University in Spain. He obtained his M.Sc. in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Barcelona in 2012 and a Masters in Inorganic Coordination Chemistry from the University of Barcelona in 1984. At present, he is mainly working with confocal/interferometric microscopy. He has extensive experience in the chemical industry with quality control (QC), research and development (R&D), analytical methods development, and product engineering. He has expertise in chromatography, such as gas-liquid chromatography (GLC), GLC-MS (GLC with mas spectroscopy), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy, as well as particle size measurements in air or liquid suspensions by Laser diffraction.
