Matthias Obst , Ph.D.

Matthias Obst studied Marine Biology at the University of Jena, Germany, and graduated at the University of Aarhus in Denmark. He then continued to work as an independent researcher at the Sven Loven Center for Marine Sciences in Kristineberg which is today a part of the University of Gothenburg. He investigates patters of biodiversity in invertebrate animals on the genetic, species and ecosystem level in order to understand their evolutionary history and for conservation biology. Currently, Matthias Obst is working half time as a researcher and half time in the construction of research infrastructures for sustainable marine ecosystems in Europe.
