Valentina Fiorilli

Valentina Fiorilli was born in Torino, Italy. Degree in Science and Technology for the Cultural Heritage; PhD in “Biology and Biotechnology of Fungi”, University of Torino, in collaboration with the Institute of Plant Virology (IVV-CNR-Torino) discussed in 2010 with a thesis entitled “Local and systemic effects of the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis on gene expression profiles in Solanum lycopersicum”. VF has applied the molecular biology methodologies to the study of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis. In particular, the analyses were addressed to the description of gene expression profiles in both model plants and Rhizophagus intraradices, using the microarray platform, mRNAseq and laser microdissection. Currently VF is involved, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, in the project “Integrated genetic and genomic approaches for new Italian rice breeding strategies (RISINNOVA)” with the task of analyzing, through a transcriptomic approach, the root system of rice plant grown and developed in different environmental conditions in association with an AM fungus.
