The main objectives of Centre for Human Genetics (CME, Centrum Menselijke Erfelijkheid) are situated in three domains: research, education, and health services. The centre focuses on hereditary diseases, cancer and neurological disorders. Its collaborators want to gain a better insight into these diseases, in order to assure patients a correct and timely diagnosis and a better treatment and support.
CME is a department within the Group Biomedical Sciences of the KU Leuven. Several research groups within CME are part of the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology (VIB – Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie). CME is also in charge of the genetic counselling at the UZ Leuven.
