Multiphoton Microscopy Publication List

There is a large range of applications for which multiphoton microscopy is used. Examples include the visualization of the whole brain’s complex architecture, study of tumor development and metastasis, and immune system response in living organisms. We have compiled below a list of publications discussing some application examples. The publications show results which were obtained with the SP8 DIVE or SP8 MP multiphoton microscope from Leica Microsystems.

Multiphoton microscopy is an advanced technique for imaging thick biological specimens. Because visible light is strongly scattered in biological tissues, fluorescence imaging is limited to a depth of approximately 100 µm. As longer wavelengths of light are scattered less than shorter ones, multiphoton microscopy is using infrared light for excitation to take advantage of this phenomenon. For this reason, multiphoton microscopy is often the technique of choice for imaging deep inside thick biological sections and living organisms.
