UMR106-01 cells as well as primary calvarial bone cells assembly spherical extracellular supramolecular protein-lipid complexes, termed biomineralization foci (BMF), in which the first crystals of hydroxyapatite mineral are deposited (Midura et al., 2004; Wang et al., 2004).
