Laser Microdissection (LMD) is a technique for isolating specific and pure targets from microscopic heterogeneous samples for downstream analysis (DNA, RNA & proteins); based on microscopic imaging and utilizing a laser.
In contrast to other systems which use a fixed laserfocus for dissection, Leica Microsystems' LMD systems guide the laserfocus for dissection. This unique feature allows highly precise laser dissection independent of the stage accuracy.
