Overview
The Leica RM2235 is a robust rotary microtome designed for manual sectioning of primarily biological specimens embedded in paraffin. Low-maintenance cross roller bearings for horizontal and vertical specimen movement ensure accurate reproducibility of the section thickness and optimum quality even when sectioning hard tissues. It boasts numerous features previously unavailable in this microtome class. The Leica RM2235 comes in two different basic versions and in different configurations to meet all current user requirements in the field of clinical histopathology.

The Leica RM2235 is designed for manual routine paraffin sectioning as well as for cutting harder materials. The spacious magnetised section waste tray is part of the compact instrument design. The handwheel with ergonomically shaped handle and one-thumb operation locking device runs extremely smoothly due to the user-adjustable force compensation system.
Both the coarse feed wheel and the mechanical trimming function (10 and 30 µm) are ergonomically located close to the user for fatigue-free operation. The wellbeing and safety of the user are underlined further by the 70-mm stroke when changing the samples.
The section thickness is adjustable between 1 and 60 µm. The patented retraction function can be activated (60 µm ) or deactivated.

The new optional 8° X/Y precision orientation system with calibrated controls helps to quickly orient already cut specimens (re-cuts) and afterward to rapidly return to the zero position which is indicated by two red pins.
High quality sections are produced with the new optional disposable blade holder with integrated safety finger protection guard and precise lateral adjustment. The large dark pressure plate ensures the use of the entire width of the blade edge. Three predefined stop positions correspond to the width of the standard histology cassette.
