Streamlined visual inspection with a consistent user interface across workflows and instruments

New Ivesta 3 stereo microscopes and Flexacam cameras extend Enersight- software-based portfolio.

26 June 2023, Wetzlar, Germany - Leica Microsystems, a leading provider of microscopy and scientific instrumentation, is expanding its inspection portfolio with new solutions powered by the Enersight software platform. The new Ivesta 3 Greenough stereo microscopes help users achieve efficient inspection. Users are able to quickly switch from an overview of the sample to seeing the fine details. Fewer adjustments of the microscope are necessary during inspection thanks to FusionOptics. Also new to the portfolio are the Flexacam c5 and i5 microscope cameras. They deliver crisp, clear images that show the finest details with accurate color. Users can consistently compare, measure, and share documentation easily, as both the new microscopes and cameras work with Enersight.

“Users now have even more options and flexibility when choosing a solution from our visual inspection portfolio operated with a common software platform. Industrial manufacturers and suppliers have the opportunity to further streamline their workflows and processes,” says James O’Brien, Vice President Life Sciences and Applied Solutions, Leica Microsystems. “In these times of skilled-worker shortages, manufacturers and suppliers can gain a competitive advantage with our inspection solutions. Their workers can become proficient in using them, no matter the operation mode, with reduced training and supervision time, due to the consistent and intuitive user interface provided by Enersight.”

The Ivesta 3 Greenough stereo microscopes are designed to optimize inspection and rework. For tasks that require a 3D view of the sample, the eyepieces of the microscopes provide optimal 3D perception thanks to FusionOptics. The large working distance of 122 mm also makes it easy to handle samples. Users spend less time adjusting the microscope and more time working. Because the encoded optics make it easier to follow standard procedures, Ivesta 3 users get results they can rely on. Additionally, they are able to efficiently document and discuss results with others using a digital camera that provides fast live-image display. For users who do not need a camera, the Ivesta 3 range also includes an analog option.

With the Flexacam c5 and i5 microscope cameras, users gain insight into samples by taking advantage of sharp images that show fine details with accurate color. In addition, the cameras allow to work flexibly and make team decisions more easily with either camera option. The Flexacam i5 is integrated between the microscope's optics carrier and the binocular tube with eyepieces. The Flexacam c5 is mounted with a C-mount adapter. This standard adapter also allows the camera to be retrofitted to other microscopes so that they can be operated with the Enersight software platform as well.

The Enersight software platform itself has been enhanced with new features and modalities. It is now available for computer desktop operation in addition to on-screen display and mobile device modes. Users have the option to take advantage of even more software features for optimal image acquisition and measurement. Because Enersight supports the entire visual inspection portfolio, there is no need to switch between workstations with different user interfaces throughout the workflow.

In addition to the new Ivesta 3 microscopes and Flexacam cameras, the Enersight-powered solutions includes the Emspira 3 digital microscope and routine stereo and compound microscopes.
