The automated Leica DM5000 B microscope for live cell analysis and cell morphology studies features a coded 7x nosepiece, manual z-focus, fully automated transmitted light axis, and automated 5x or 8x fluorescence axis.

In addition to automated brightfield, darkfield, phase, and polarization contrast, the Leica DM5000 B features fully automated Differential Interference Contrast (DIC).

Automated transmitted light axis

Features an automated transmitted light axis for all known transmitted light techniques, including Leica Microsystems’ unique, fully automated DIC with one touch of a button all system components automatically move into the light path and the fine adjustments for objective prisms are stored for each objective for reproducibility and excellent image quality.

Contrast Manager and Light Manager work together to automatically adjust the light intensity, field diaphragm, and aperture diaphragm for the best image quality.   

The Leica‘s patented Constant Color Intensity Control (CCIC) maintains constant color temperature when changing the light intensity- always the same color of the image and the white balance that is normally required for digital camera use is now a thing of a past.

Automated fluorescence axis

The fully automated fluorescence axis with apochromatically-corrected optical path provides high contrast, brilliant images at a touch of a button:

  • motorized 5 or 8-position filter cube turret, motorized field diaphragm and fast motorized shutter
  • patented Fluorescence Intensity Management (Leica FIM)
  • optionally motorized Excitation Manager (patented) and fast Internal Filter Wheel (Leica IFW) for multiple fluorescences
