Label-free Imaging of Mouse Brain Tissue Exhibiting Alzheimer’s Pathology
This movie shows a z-stack of a 50-μm thick mouse brain slice.
- Green: CARS image of Lipid components (at 2850 cm-1)
- Blue: autofluorescence of intracellular vesicles likely containing lipofuscin
Myelinated neurites (lipid-rich tubular structures) and pathological lipid deposits (blob-shaped structures) are associated with Amyloid-β-plaques. Dark voids in the lipid image correspond to neuronal cell bodies. Samples provided by Dr. Martin Fuhrmann and Andrea Baral, German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, Bonn, Germany. Objective: HC PL IRAPO 40x/1.1 W CORR.
In vivo blood flow of mouse
Label-free imaging of movement of red blood cells in a living mouse at video rate.
