While in FM specific proteins are labelled and identified to visualize their dynamics and interactions in fixed or living cells, EM serves to obtain the full context and high-resolution detail. Cryo CLEM combines low-temperature FM with cryo EM. It is becoming increasingly popular as it allows the identification of small target structures based on their fluorescence signal in a very efficient way.
