Ana Rubina Perestrelo

Ana Rubina Perestrelo has started her journey on Madeira Island (Portugal). After finishing her master's studies in Bioengineering and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Algarve (Portugal), she moved to Brno (Czech Republic), pursuing an experience abroad. Her work in the International Clinical Research Center of St. Anne's University Hospital, entitled multiscale analysis of extracellular matrix remodeling its impact on cardiac cells in heart failure, using both mouse models and patient samples, empowered the development of competencies in cell culture, histology, microscopy, and omics. She then becomes responsible for the microscopy lab maintenance and respective training. Motivated by knowledge application into technology, she takes a role as Technology Scout, focused on technology transfer, IP protection, hospital-industry partnerships, and contractual research.

In October 2020, she joined Leica Microsystems as Product Workflow Manager of Life Science in the Applied Business Unit.
