The ‘Visualizing Organoid Complexity Through Advanced Imaging’ workshop will take place on Friday, 27 February 2026, at the Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin Building, University of Oxford, UK.
This hybrid scientific event brings together leading experts working on organoid- and human-relevant model-based research for a morning of live and virtual presentations, followed by hands‑on workshops hosted by the Micron Bioimaging Facility.
Delegates will gain insights into advanced imaging and spatial biology approaches for investigating organoids and other 3D human-relevant models across applications including cancer immunotherapy, neurodegenerative disease and ocular immunology. Attendees will also learn about the latest developments in light sheet imaging and spinning‑disk confocal technologies. During the workshop sessions, participants will have the opportunity to experience the THUNDER Imager Cell Spinning Disk in action.
Speakers include academics from the University of Oxford and UCL, alongside microscopy specialists from Leica Microsystems and the Micron Bioimaging Facility.
Professor Lothar Schermelleh, Director of the Micron Bioimaging Facility, says, “With organoids gaining traction as human-relevant models, we’re delighted to welcome this community at the next ‘See the Hidden’ workshop in Oxford. Our state of the art imaging facilities—and the teams behind them—provide the ideal setting to showcase the latest microscopy advances. It’s an honor to contribute to Oxford’s long tradition of imaging excellence while helping researchers highlight their work.”
In partnership with Bitesize Bio, the morning talks at Oxford will be broadcast globally. Researchers worldwide are invited to participate virtually, engage with the scientific programme, and see the Leica Centre of Excellence at Micron. Participation is free, with registration required for both online and in-person attendance.
The ‘See the Hidden’ workshop at Micron reinforces the commitment of Leica Microsystems to empower the life‑science community with tools, knowledge, and platforms that advance scientific discovery, in partnership with the Collaborative Centre of Excellence at Micron.
Special thanks to Niloufer Irani, Deirdre Kavanagh, and Lothar Schermelleh from the Micron Bioimaging Facility, and Deepthi Konthalapally, Sarah Piper, Tom Phillips, Emmanuelle Steib, and Tracey Williams from Leica Microsystems for their support with this event.
