Research at Regensburg University Hospital focuses primarily on the fields of immunotherapy as well as cancer research. Transplantation medicine is the main point of focus for clinicians and clinical scientists at the University Hospital.

Medical research in Regensburg is characterised by a high degree of networking among scientists, both within specific research areas and between discrete fields of research.

Health services research is conducted with the closest of cooperation between all healthcare stakeholders (private practitioners, other hospitals and other participants in the process of healthcare provision). A highly interdisciplinary approach is taken to applied clinical research, while basic research is based on a close-knit network of researchers drawn from the scientific departments at the University of Regensburg and the Faculty of Medicine.
