ATTO-Dye Labeled Phospholipids
In recent years the investigation of biological membranes, e.g. intracellular membranes of live cells, plasma membranes etc., has become a major subject of interest. As a result there is a growing demand for fluorescent dye-labeled lipids, in particular glycero-phospholipids, to be incorporated in biological membranes. ATTO-TEC offers a variety of glycero-phospholipids, carrying one or two fatty acid chains (lipophilic groups) and a phosphate ester residue (hydrophilic group).
ATTO-dye fluorescent phospholipids are labeled at the hydrophilic head group. After incorporation in, e.g., a plasma membrane (phospholipid bilayer) the fluorophore is located at the water/lipid interface of the membrane.
"ATTO-TEC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Leica Microsystems"
Currently we provide the phospholipids
- 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DPPE),
- 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DOPE),
- 1-palmitoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (PPE)
- 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DMPE), and
- 1,2-dilauroyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DLPE)
labeled with ATTO-dyes.
ATTO 430LS
ATTO 430LS is a new fluorescent label featuring an extraordinary large Stokes-shift of 109 nm. Thus the emission spectrum is almost completely separated from the absorption spectrum. ATTO 430LS is very hydrophilic and highly water soluble. The dye exhibits a high fluorescence quantum yield, which is only slightly reduced on conjugation to biomolecules, e.g. proteins, even at high degrees of labeling (DOL).
ATTO 430LS is an anionic dye. After conjugation to a substrate the dye carries a net electrical charge of -1. The fluorescence is excited most efficiently in the range 400 - 460 nm.
