George Themelis

Dr. George Themelis is Advanced Technology Manager in the Medical Division of Leica Microsystems, where he has served since 2013. He earned his PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Crete and conducted research at Harvard Medical School and Helmholtz Zentrum München. Dr. Themelis has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications with more than 4,600 citations and holds over 90 patent families. His innovations include commercially successful technologies in multispectral fluorescence-guided surgery, notably the GLOW imaging platform. His expertise encompasses biomedical optics, surgical microscopy, and real-time fluorescence visualization for clinical applications.
