DFC7000 T and DFC7000 GT Leica Leica Microsystems

Microscope Cameras DFC7000 T and DFC7000 GT

Both cameras have an USB3 digital interface and are delivered with an USB3 PCi board.
The camera will not start and the LED on the rear side of the camera will turn orange.
In many cases you can use it but to benefit from the full performance of the camera we recommend to use the PCi board which is always delivered with the camera.
The camera features a 2/3 inch sensor so we recommend to use the 0.7 x c-mount for compound microscopes or the 0.63 x c-mount for stereo microscopes.
It is the 2.8 MP Sony sensor ICX674 with EXview HAD CCD II technology.
This technology of Sony is based on a new pixel architecture which basically results is a higher quantum efficiency, improved signal to noise ratio, and higher sensitivity compared to similar sensors without that new technology.
DFC7000 T is a cooled color camera, DFC7000 GT is a cooled monochrome camera.
If you use Brightfield/ Phase contrast methods and switch frequently to fluorescence we recommend to use the DFC7000 T. This is a cooled color camera which is suitable for both- brightfield and fluorescence applications. If you applications are focussed on fluorescence and you need a high-end fluorescence camera with a higher quantum efficiency than a color camera the DFC7000 GT is the right choice.
The monochrome camera does not have a RGB-Bayer mask which takes light away.
In many standard color cameras the mononochrome image just reflects the input from the green pixels. The DFC7000 T however uses the Y-UV signal which is composed of 10% blue, 60 % green, and 30% red input. You can easily switch from color mode to mono mode within the software LAS X or LAS.
The sensor can be read out simultaneously in four portions (=taps).
You can select the color temperature of the microscope illumination to adjust the camera accordingly.
The camera features an onboard memory of 6 images.
You need a high-speed trigger cable and an extention board of the Leica microscope CTR box.
DFC7000 T is supported in LAS X ; LAS ; LAS Steel Expert; DFC7000 GT is currently supported in LAS X 3.3.0 or higher
You can easily upgrade your system with the appropriate camera driver via the Leica software updater (provided by LAS X) . In addition the camera package always includes the newest LAS X version free of charge.
No. LAS 4.6 already supports the Leica DFC7000 T. Just make sure you have the drivers installed.
It is quite often necessary to enhance the digital signal ( gain) instead of increasing the duration of light exposure. This is an important feature to protect the specimen from light damage and/ or encrease the acquisition speed. With only 2-3 distinct gain values this feature would be very limited.
The camera will be exchanged- worldwide.
You can attach the DFC7000 cameras on any Leica compound or stereo microscope with a documentation tube or documentation port. For microscopes others than Leica please contact your local Leica representative. All questions and answers subject to modification without prior notice.
