The Institute of Anatomy belongs to the medical faculty of the university of Bern. Its scope of duties comprise preclinical teaching in human, dentist and veterinary medical curricula as well as in many other paramedical fields. Research topics include base science in the fields of skeletal and smooth muscle, the lung and its development, particle interactions in the lung, stereology and others.
