LED1, LED3, LED5 & LED8 Fluorescence light sources
Bright, stable and cost-effective illumination
Great imaging starts with a bright, stable and cost-effective way of illuminating your sample. With our new LED series you will find the right light source for your fluorescence application.
Whether it’s routine cell culture work, imaging tissue sections or performing advanced imaging experiments, it’s time to switch from your old metal-halide lamp to state-of-the-art LED light sources.
Your benefits
- No service needed thanks to long LED life time
- Work safely with an environmentally friendly mercury-free LED light source
- Better light output stability
Choose the light source suitable for your needs.
LED1
Performing routine fluorescence applications such as checking cells for transfection, multi-color fluorescence documentation and simple time-lapse experiments the LED1 is your choice.
The versatile solid-state light source offers white light or 4 individual colors in the 380-650nm range. Perfect for usage in combination with our routine microscopes DM2500, or DM4 B.
Your Benefits
- Training-free and fast use – no need to start a software: Simply turn the knob to adjust intensity
- Improve signal-to-background thanks to manually switch from white to either of the 4 colors imaging
- Synchronize illumination with camera exposure and minimize photobleaching by triggering your LED1
LED3
Performing multi-color fluorescence microscopy, long-term time-lapse experiments or stereo microscopy applications many times requires a bright and stable white light source that can be combined with a range of filter sets. Are you looking for such an allrounder? Our most powerful LED3 is the right choice.
The LED3 is triggerable and offers white light in the 390-680nm range.
Your Benefits
- Reliable data and less artifacts thanks to higher stability of light output
- Image low expressing fluorescence fusion proteins under physiological conditions with outstanding brightness
- Low phototoxicity and low photobleaching for long-term experiments thanks to synchronization of illumination with camera exposure by triggering the LED3
LED5
When performing high-speed, high-throughput imaging, the LED5 is the right light source for you. It’s the perfect companion for your DMi8 or THUNDER Imager 3D Assay. The light engine is equipped with 4 powerful LEDs to cover the classic dyes and FPs.
Your Benefits
- Perform high-speed multi-color imaging to maximize throughput
- Study fast biological processes and minimize photobleaching by triggering your LED5 with Synapse to synchronize illumination with other trigger-controlled system components
- High data quality for quantitative imaging and reproducible results thanks to the high output stability (electronically stabilized)
- Better physiology in long-term live imaging experiments due to lower UV light contamination
LED8
Get high-speed and high-throughput performance for your advanced applications such as ratiometric imaging when working with the LED8. It offers highest flexibility amongst the Leica LED light engines. It‘s the perfect companion for your DMi8 or THUNDER Imager 3D Cell Culture or 3D Live Cell.
Your Benefits
- Maximize speed and minimize photobleaching by triggering your LED8 with Synapse to synchronize illumination with other trigger-controlled system components
- High data quality for quantitative imaging and reproducible results thanks to the high output stability and microsecond precision of on/off switching
- Perform ratiometric imaging with classical FRET dye combinations, e.g. CFP/YFP, take full advantage of the ever increasing number of available biosensors
- Better physiology in long-term live imaging experiments due to lower UV light contamination
