Norbert Jost , Prof. Dipl. Wirt. Ing.

Norbert Jost is Professor for Material Science and Material Testing. He is Head of the Steinbeis Transfer Centre for Material Development and Material Testing (damage analysis and expert reports). He is involved in several sponsored projects with main research areas in Cu-basis-alloys and metallic foams.

Norbert Jost studied Engineering and specialized in Material Science at the Ruhr University in Bochum, where he also gained his Ph.D. in the field “Fe-Ni-basis shape memory alloys”. Parallel to his Ph.D., he acquired a diploma as Industrial Engineer in evening courses. 

Afterwards, he was Chief Engineer at the Faculty of Material Science at the Ruhr University in Bochum, before becoming the CEO’s assistant for the DEKRA AG in Stuttgart. He was also Department Head and Director of the Materials-Testing Institute of the DEKRA-ETS mbH, Saarbücken.

In 1996,  Norbert Jost was appointed Professor and Department Head for the field Material Science and Material Testing as well as Strength of Materials at the University of Pforzheim.
